Responsibilities

Design and manage high-availability (HA) PostgreSQL clusters (Single-node, Patroni, or managed cloud) across all environments
Proactively monitor and resolve bottlenecks, including vacuum/autovacuum tuning, index bloat, and connection management
Implement advanced partitioning strategies (Range, List, Hash) and automated archival policies to maintain performance as datasets grow
Own the backup/DR strategy (PITR, pgBackRest), execute zero-downtime upgrades, and enforce RBAC and encryption standards
Optimize read-replicas and materialized views to enable high-performance BI reporting (Tableau/Power BI) without compromising OLTP speed
Utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and scripting (Python/Shell) to automate provisioning and maintenance
Design and orchestrate automated failover (Patroni/Cloud HA) to maintain a Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of <15 minutes and near-zero data loss (RPO)
Enforce SOC2/GDPR standards by implementing granular audit logging, encryption, and automated PII masking across all environments
Architect and execute data retention policies that move aged trade data to lower-cost storage tiers without sacrificing accessibility for BI or regulatory audits

Required

5–10 years as a production PostgreSQL DBA
Deep mastery of MVCC, WAL, and Query Planner behavior
Proficiency with pgBouncer, Patroni, and cloud-native database environments (AWS/Azure)
Strong Linux skills and experience with Prometheus/Grafana monitoring
BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
