Land Development Team Lead / Project Manager (PE)

Civil Science is seeking an experienced Land Development Team Lead / Project Manager to join their growing St. George, Utah office. In this role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of land development projects while managing and mentoring a team of designers and engineers.

Responsibilities

Lead planning, design, and delivery of land development projects from concept through construction
Prepare and oversee grading, drainage, utilities, roadway, and site development designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Manage project budgets, schedules, scopes, and resources to ensure successful outcomes
Perform quality control reviews and ensure compliance with local, state, and regulatory requirements
Maintain responsibility for technical accuracy and overall project performance
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships
Support and lead business development efforts, including proposals, scope development, and fee negotiations
Identify opportunities for repeat work and expanded services
Represent the firm in client meetings, industry events, and community engagements
Lead, mentor, and manage designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team
Assign work, provide technical guidance, and support professional development
Coordinate staffing needs and workload planning to meet project demands
Promote quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license (Utah or ability to obtain)
5+ years of experience in land development or civil site engineering
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Proven experience managing land development projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass both a criminal background check and driving record review

Preferred

Prior experience leading or managing design teams
Demonstrated success supporting or winning new work
Knowledge of Southern Utah or regional permitting and development processes
Strong business acumen and client relationship skills
