Investigations Unit Manager, Consumer Protection

Responsibilities
Manage the Investigations Unit of the Consumer Protection Section
Investigate suspected violations of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act and other state and federal consumer protection laws
Carry a caseload with responsibility to handle consumer complaints that allege violations of law
Facilitate the resolution of consumer complaints as may be appropriate
Work with Consumer Protection Section attorneys to develop and pursue possible enforcement actions
Conduct consumer and witness interviews
Draft interview summaries
Prepare investigative reports
Perform field investigations when appropriate
Interact with state/federal officials, businesses, and the general consuming public
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and experience in consumer protection laws
Experience conducting interviews and investigations
Experience facilitating the resolution of consumer complaints
Well-developed oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Skills to interact effectively with other state/federal agencies and the general public
Proficiency using personal computers, including a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases
Preferred
B.A. or B.S. college degree in criminal justice, public administration, political science, government, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of experience, training, and education in law enforcement, regulatory enforcement, or investigations
Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, lead, and manage personnel
