Responsibilities
Maintain the Real Time desk operations including personnel schedules and systems
Identify additional resources and the budget required to support the Real Time desk operations including third party data sources, external systems, and internal needs
Work with the Jupiter SCADA team to implement an EMS system for all current operating assets and future assets to be constructed, including additional views required by the QSE desk
Apply in depth ISO / ERCOT market operations knowledge to inform BESS trading & bidding strategies to manage real-time operations and collaborate with Trading team colleagues to devise asset-optimization strategies for managing battery storage operations in real-time
Work with internal compliance group to ensure that real-time asset operations and processes adhere to ISO compliance, NERC compliance, and Jupiter Powers risk policy guidelines
Implement standard operating procedures used for real-time operations for the fleet of assets on an ISO level
Manage daily Real Time operations processes to ensure that trading and scheduling decisions are executed to satisfy energy and ancillary service obligations and to manage capacity (state of charge) efficiently
Ensure that the Real Time team is working with the Jupiter SCADA team to identify and troubleshoot real-time communication issues between the site equipment, internal data management systems, third-party partners such as Scheduling Entities and ISOs
Ensure communication with the Jupiter Power ROC staff in Real Time regarding asset availability and inputting outages/communicating with Scheduling Entities and ISOs where applicable
Use 3rd Party modules and ISO published reports to monitor Real Time system conditions, outages, and constraints on nodal energy prices affecting our positions
Supporting asset onboarding and ongoing support for asset planning & reporting including acting as liaison with clients/business partners, maintenance of asset parameter data, outage planning and asset monitoring
Ensure the desk maintains 24/7 coverage to support Level 4 QSE responsibilities and provide additional coverage if needed
Qualification
Required
Five or more years in a Real Time Power role such as control room operations, power trading, generation scheduling, or asset management
Experience in managing a team of traders or operators within the energy management sector
Working knowledge in one or more ISOs (ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE)
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a high-stress environment while managing time in sometimes rapidly changing situations
Demonstrates high standards in risk management, performance management, relationships with relevant 3rd parties and clients, communication, analysis, decision making, and legal & regulatory compliance
A degree(s) in finance, economics, math, electrical theory, electrical power distribution, electrical power generation, or relevant field
High comfort level with fast-moving organizations, with the curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to bring the best out of co-workers
Preferred
NERC certification and familiarity with energy storage technologies are advantages
