Transportation Engineer II – Hydrology/Hydraulics
The State of Maine is seeking a Transportation Engineer II specializing in Hydrology and Hydraulics within the Department of Transportation. The role involves performing complex engineering work related to hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, primarily focused on fish passage and transportation projects across the state.

Responsibilities
H/H analysis and design for fish passage through MaineDOT stream crossings
Development of riverine and coastal design hydrology for a wide range of transportation projects
Field work and data collection to support H/H responsibilities
Generate design hydrology reports for bridge and culvert design
Design culverts for fish passage
Develop material specifications for culvert stream beds
Apply statistical, hydrologic and hydraulic models
Conduct look-back assessments of specific extreme rainfall/runoff events
Collect tidal water level data for tidal structure hydraulic design
Conduct stream profile level surveys and associated stream assessments for culvert fish passage design
Assist with assessment of water crossing projects for NEPA floodplain compliance
Advise on guidance for MaineDOT fish passage and hydraulic/hydrologic design
Maintain MaineDOT presence on AASHTO and TRB H/H activities
Serve on NCHRP research oversight panels
Qualification
Required
Licensure as a Professional Engineer which includes at least two (2) years of work experience which demonstrates independent design, engineering analysis based on established standards, and progressively responsible work overseeing complex engineering projects with increased accountability
Licensure as a Professional Engineer as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers
