Responsibilities
Serve as the subject-matter expert for metallic materials and alloys in stamping, welding, machining, and roll forming operations
Guide material selection, specifications, and substitutions for formed components
Lead failure analysis related to cracking, splitting, wear, and more
Interpret metallurgical and mechanical test results and recommend corrective actions
Collaborate with plant engineering and operations teams to enhance formability and product performance
Work to minimize scrap, downtime, and rework
Support die tryouts, new product launches, and troubleshoot material-related issues
Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives
Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and internal material standards
Assist with customer technical reviews and audits
Develop and standardize metallurgical procedures and best practices
Provide training and technical guidance to teams
Collaborate with various departments to drive standardization and best practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science, or related field
7 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing or metal forming environments
Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, formability, and metallurgical testing
Experience with steel and aluminum used in various manufacturing processes
Familiarity with ASTM, SAE, ISO standards, and external testing laboratories
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
