Responsibilities
Partner with Technology Development to design and validate experimental protocols, from initial R&D through regulatory submission
Architect and enhance bioinformatics algorithms that power both new diagnostic development and existing production workflows
Lead technical initiatives hands-on while mentoring teams in building robust, scalable bioinformatics pipelines
Develop data management strategies that optimize product performance and empower cross-team collaboration
Drive strategic decisions by evaluating cost-benefit analyses for performance improvements and COGS reduction
Champion innovation by staying current with cutting-edge sequencing technologies and computational methods
Build consensus across scientific, quality, regulatory, and business teams to align priorities with user needs
Guide complex projects from conception to completion, anticipating challenges and ensuring timely delivery
Synthesize and communicate findings effectively, from internal presentations to regulatory submissions and peer-reviewed publications
Qualification
Required
PhD level with 10+ years related industry experience
Expert experience with data and statistical analysis with Python
Expert developing bioinformatics pipelines in one or more languages (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++, Rust). Comfortable with developing in cloud environments and using workflow managers
5+ years managing and troubleshooting genetic sequencing assays or tests
Statistical design for experiments for development and validation of diagnostics in a regulated environment (e.g., CAP/CLIA, FDA)
Ability to design well-tested software that interfaces in larger systems and is extensible by other team members and teams
Proven mentor and leader of teams that have successfully developed and launched medical diagnostics
