Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will support the corporate accounting team with general ledger, financial reporting, and operational accounting responsibilities, thriving in a fast-moving environment and collaborating cross-functionally.

Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Reconcile general ledger accounts including cash, prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, and reserves
Assist with month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
Support accounting for insurance‑specific items such as premiums, commissions, loss reserves, and claims activity
Perform reconciliation of premium billings and review related transactions for accuracy
Assist with statutory reporting as needed
Prepare internal financial reports and variance analyses
Assist in preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors
Collaborate with finance leadership on budgeting and forecasting initiatives
Partner with AP/AR teams to ensure accurate coding and compliance with internal controls
Support special projects, system updates, and process improvement efforts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1–4 years of accounting experience; insurance industry experience strongly preferred, but open to corporate general accounting backgrounds
Working knowledge of GAAP
Proficiency with Excel; experience with ERP/accounting software a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
