Eurofins Environment Testing is a network of independent companies providing analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries. They are seeking a Specialty Metals Department Supervisor responsible for supervising employees, ensuring compliance with policies, and supporting the Business Unit Manager in achieving operational and financial goals.

Responsibilities

Leading, scheduling, and training of employees
Ensuring adherence to the highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations
Ensuring coverage and performance

Managing the technical conduct, quality control, and related record keeping of all analytical evaluations performed
Being Responsible for the supervision, organization, and coordination of all technical activities of personnel within the principles of sound scientific endeavors, business economy, and the professional development of subordinate employees
Providing the necessary planning, organization, direction, and control to meet the goals of the company
Ensuring that all pertinent company health, safety, and environmental programs are adhered to and documentation is maintained
Establishing and maintaining professional business relationships with clients, industry officials, and peers
Assisting in the generation of marketing strategies, preparing comprehensive technical work proposals, and maintaining an influential position in establishing business expansion plans
Supporting the Business Unit Manager with meeting the department operational and financial goals as well as developing and implementing capital plans
Overseeing daily operations including: laboratory, quality, logistic, and managerial duties
Representing the laboratory in technical meetings
Participating with the Sales/Marketing team in the preparation and quotation of major technical studies
Proposing major investments to company executives
Analyzing laboratory key operational and financial indicators such as turnaround time, financial performance to budget including labor cost, consumables cost, and other relevant costs
Verifying that company employment policies and procedures are followed correctly
Performing annual performance reviews for direct reports
Handling employee relation issues as per company guidelines and with the support of Human Resources
Coordinating the interaction between the different laboratory departments and as well as other labs sharing work with the Specialty Metals Department
Understanding and following each Quality System document relevant to employment responsibilities, e.g., methods, SOPs, etc. and proposing changes to documents and approving documents when required
Conducting all activities in a safe and efficient manner
Performing other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major)
At least 2 years of supervisory experience
At least 5 years professional experience in laboratory operations preferably in Specialty Metals. Demonstrated success in improving operational, profit, quality and safety performance
Must be able to work with people, negotiate, analyze problems, and translate company goals into actions necessary to achieve those goals
Strong leadership, initiative, and teambuilding skills
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Ability to understand and analyze financial statements
Ability to lead lab through continuous improvement initiatives
Experience in laboratory procedures, data analysis, and computer operations
Experience in technical/business writing, and giving oral presentations
Strong technical and management background required
Must be able to organize and lead laboratory personnel in a manner that reflects corporate goals and objectives and schedule workflow so as to optimize laboratory productivity and client satisfaction in a cost effective manner
Familiarity with the following EPA methods & Instrumentation: 1630,1631, 1632, 200.8, 1640, 6010, 6020, 1311, 1312. Instrumentation: CVAA, CVAFS, CV-GC-AFS, HG-CT-GC-AAS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, HPLC-ICP-MS, ICP-MS/MS
