Responsibilities
Serving as primary legal advisor to assigned divisions and subsidiaries to support operational, business, and strategic goals
Assisting the Chief Legal Officer on strategic transactions, corporate governance, physician practice acquisitions, and other complex legal matters
Reviewing, preparing, and negotiating contracts, including software licensing, service, consulting, and physician agreements
Actively collaborate and support healthcare compliance efforts (HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback, EMTALA, CMS, etc)
Collaborate and periodically lead multidisciplinary committees and system initiatives
Overseeing CHKDHS insurance program and managing captive insurance operations
Leading or collaborating on cross-functional projects to implement corporate changes or meet regulatory requirements
Leading, coaching, mentoring, and managing a team, including hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions
Coordinating outside counsel as needed and providing guidance on intellectual property matters
Providing advice on policy and procedure compliance, audits, and consent/legal process issues
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active licensure with the Virginia State Bar or ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire
Approximately 3–5 years of progressively responsible legal experience in healthcare (in-house or law firm) or comparable experience
Knowledge of corporate, compliance, and regulatory healthcare matters
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, manage projects, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Valid Virginia driver's license and ability to meet hospital insurance requirements
Preferred
Experience leading or collaborating with cross-functional teams preferred
