Campaign Operations & Communications Manager

VOICE (Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement) is a nonpartisan community-organizing network that seeks to empower lower- and middle-income people across Northern Virginia. The Campaign Operations & Communications Manager plays a vital role in managing external communications, supporting campaign logistics, and assisting with grant management to ensure the organization's success.

Responsibilities

Drafting and sending mass emails (announcements, action alerts, event invitations, follow-ups) based on verbal guidance and staff meeting notes
Managing VOICE’s social media presence, including drafting and scheduling posts across platforms
Creating basic communications assets (e.g., flyers, graphics, slide decks, and one-pagers)
Maintaining a communications calendar and ensuring deadlines are met
Ensuring consistency of voice, tone, and branding
Lead logistics for 3–6 large public events or major trainings per year (100–1,000+ participants), including advance planning, timelines, materials, run-of-show documents. This may include limited time in Richmond during the legislative session
Support 2-4 smaller regional meetings, trainings, or actions in Northern Virginia
Create event materials, including flyers, registration forms, signage, and check-in sheets
Manage event supplies, food coordination, space setup, and basic technology needs
Coordinate, delegate, and communicate with volunteers for event-day roles (check-in, ushering, donation collection, data collection)
Serve as a lead logistics point person on event days, troubleshooting issues as they arise
Implement & oversee data collection, cleanup, and handoff to organizers post-event
Support organizers with scheduling meetings, creating Zoom links, and sending reminder and follow-up emails
Support the Executive Director with grant management through tracking grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables
Support Co-Executive Directors with grant writing, including drafting sections, assembling attachments, and formatting proposals upon request
Assist with grant reports and data collection for existing funders
Maintain organized grant files and documentation
Maintain contact lists, email distribution lists, and basic data systems
Support digital tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, and shared file systems
Coordinate with vendors, printers, and contractors related to events and communications

Required

2–4 years of experience in operations, communications, organizing support, nonprofit administration, or a related field
Strong writing skills and comfort drafting clear, audience-appropriate emails and social media posts
Familiarity with mass email tools, social media platforms, and basic design software (e.g., Canva)
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities
Comfort working independently with clear direction from senior staff
Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events, including in-person work in Virginia
Genuine enthusiasm for VOICE's mission, values, and campaigns
A sense of humor (Times are rough, team spirit matters!)
This role requires the use of a personal computer and mobile phone for VOICE work. VOICE provides a monthly technology stipend to help offset business-related expenses

Preferred

Experience supporting advocacy, organizing, or campaign-based work professionally or in a volunteer capacity
Strong data analysis and presentation skills, proficiency with Excel
Grant writing and management experience
