Human Resources Manager
AlphaStaffHCM is an engineering firm entering a growth phase, seeking an experienced HR professional to manage payroll, HR operations, and employee relations. The HR Manager will oversee full-cycle HR operations, ensuring compliance and a strong employee experience while collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Manage and prepare bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for all employees
Serve as the primary liaison with a 3rd party payroll provider for payroll processing, changes, issue resolution, and reporting
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and employment regulations across multiple states
Generate, analyze, and reconcile payroll and HR reports using Excel
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and follow-up across all HR matters
Deliver clear, timely, and consistent HR communications across the organization
Coordinate employee events, engagement initiatives, and internal culture activities, including small on-site events and team gatherings
Own and support hiring administration, onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
Partner with the Director of Marketing and internal stakeholders to support recruiting and hiring efforts
Support candidate tracking, job postings, and interview coordination
Assist with interview coordination, candidate communication, and offer process support
Work closely with the Controller and Operations Director to support payroll accuracy, employee relations, and operational alignment
Maintain strong cross-functional relationships to support organizational needs, employee relations, and HR execution
Qualification
Required
5+ years of payroll-focused HR or HR operations experience, including multi-state payroll ownership
Experience working with a managed payroll provider; Paychex experience strongly preferred
Hands-on experience managing multi-state payroll and employment compliance
Strong initiative with the ability to independently manage competing HR priorities
Demonstrated responsiveness and a genuine commitment to employee support and communication
Experience supporting talent acquisition, onboarding, and hiring processes
Advanced proficiency in Excel for payroll, reporting, and data analysis
Experience using HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems; ability to adopt new systems quickly
Preferred
Bilingual (Spanish a plus)
Experience supporting engineering, AEC, or professional services organizations
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive employee relations matters and executive stakeholders
Strong initiative and ability to independently manage priorities
High responsiveness and commitment to employee support
