Project Accountant

Responsibilities

Employee will perform a variety of accounting functions and processing of transactions by applying basic principles and fundamental business theories
Support coordination of standard and complex client invoices
Prepares, reviews, and analyzes billing transactions
Examines a variety of recording and reporting documents and summaries to verify accuracy and conformance with specific functional, corporate, contract, government, or professional accounting requirements
Reconciles reports and financial data with other records on file. Identifies inconsistencies, deviations from policies, and errors; performs appropriate corrective actions
Prepares or reviews moderately complex summary reports, financial statements, etc
Prepares and maintains desktop instructions and assists with overall procedures and work process reviews
Works extensively with Oak Ridge Billing group

Required

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 1-2 years of relevant experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access
Demonstrated knowledge in fundamental accounting concepts and principles gained through specialized education and/or work experience
Must be customer oriented and have the ability to work in a team environment
General knowledge of basic business practices and fundamental business theories. Must be flexible, self-motivated, dependable, and accurate with attention to detail

Preferred

Working knowledge of Oracle, Corporate Financial Analytics and Reporting (CFAR), and File-Net Imaging System
Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing, and financial accounting. Skill in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting
Familiar with procedures relating to U.S. government jobs, Federal Acquisition Regulations and Cost Accounting Standards
Understand government indirect rate concepts
