Associate Director of Sophie's Scholars (59035)
Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton is seeking an Associate Director for the Sophie’s Scholars Program. This role focuses on student support, leadership development, and case management, working closely with students and families to implement programming and support transitions in academic and social settings.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary provider of academic, social-emotional, and leadership development support for students served by OMCS and the Sophie’s Scholars Program
Provide individual case management for high school students, including regular check-ins, goal-setting, progress monitoring, documentation, and communication with families
Design and facilitate a weekly 9th-grade Transition to High School class, focused on academic skills, self-advocacy, identity development, belonging, and leadership
Prepare and support students to serve as student leaders, peer mentors, and representatives within Sophie’s Scholars and OMCS programming
Identify student needs, coordinate referrals, and collaborate with counselors, family services, and outside providers when appropriate
Communicate regularly with the Director regarding student progress, leadership growth, and recommended supports or interventions
Implement Sophie’s Scholars and OMCS programming in alignment with priorities and plans set by the Director
Coordinate and facilitate student leadership development programming, including leadership cohorts, workshops, retreats, and experiential learning opportunities
Support middle school Saturday programming and summer programming for the Sophie’s Scholars cohort, with an emphasis on leadership skill-building and student voice
Assist with tracking student participation, progress, and leadership development outcomes
Support and implement college access and readiness programming, including workshops on college applications, financial aid, and college persistence
Coordinate annual college access trips, including logistics, student preparation, chaperoning, and reflection activities
Support students in connecting leadership experiences to college applications, resumes, interviews, and internships
Collaborate with College Counseling to ensure alignment with school timelines and the needs of first-generation students and families
Serve as a contact for families regarding student progress, leadership development, and program participation
Build strong, trusting relationships with families and provide guidance during academic, social, and leadership transitions
Collaborate with the Director of Sophie’s and the Family Services Coordinator to plan and support family workshops and engagement opportunities
Collaborate closely with counselors, faculty, administrators, and OMCS colleagues to support students holistically
Participate in relevant DEIA, restorative practices, and student support teams
Share observations and trends from direct student work with the Director to inform program planning and decision-making
Stay current on best practices related to equity, access, student leadership development, and student success in secondary and higher education
Supporting Sophie’s Scholars' admissions and recruitment efforts
Coordinating standardized test preparation (SAT/ACT)
Participating in overnight trips, retreats, conferences, or special events
Contributing to special initiatives aligned with OMCS priorities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience providing direct student support in a school, college-access, or youth-serving organization
Demonstrated experience supporting first-generation, low-income, and/or historically underrepresented students in an academic setting
Experience providing case management, advising, or ongoing progress monitoring and communication with students and families
Experience supporting student leadership development, transition programming, or youth leadership initiatives
Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills
Spanish language proficiency. (reading, writing, and speaking)
Availability for evening/weekend programming and occasional travel
Ability to work collaboratively, take direction, and communicate regularly with a supervisor regarding student needs, priorities, and concerns
Strong organizational skills, follow-through, and comfort managing multiple student cases simultaneously
Preferred
Master's degree in counseling, social work, education or related field
Experience coordinating or implementing student support programs (e.g., transition programs, leadership development, or academic support)
Experience collaborating with school counselors, college counselors, or mental health professionals as part of a student support team
Familiarity with college access, financial aid, and college persistence support for first-generation students
Experience facilitating small-group workshops, student-facing, or cohort-based programming
