Accounts Receivable & Denial Specialist I
Physicians Rehab Solution is seeking an Accounts Receivable & Denial Specialist I who will oversee and coordinate accounts receivable and denial processes in the therapy practices. The role is crucial for ensuring patient accounts are accurate and compliant, while also improving overall cash flow.
Responsibilities
Review and manage accounts receivable, including follow-up on outstanding claims
Analyze Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to ensure accurate charge capture for therapy services
Work insurance denials and submit corrected claims in a timely manner
Contact insurance companies regarding unpaid claims and denial issues
Review explanations of benefits (EOBs) for accuracy and collaborate with coding specialists
Run and analyze reports to support daily processing and revenue cycle performance
Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, authorizations, and financial responsibility
Perform billing functions including payment posting, denial management, and cross-coverage support
Identify trends and suggest process improvements to reduce denials and increase collections
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and regulatory standards
Communicate effectively with leadership, billing teams, and clinic staff
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
2–3 years of experience in a medical office setting (physical therapy experience preferred)
1–2 years of medical accounts receivable and denial management experience (required)
Experience working with computer systems and healthcare EMRs
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
Compliance with HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
Preferred
Knowledge of physical and occupational therapy billing and denial processing
Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance guidelines
Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
Experience with authorizations and insurance verifications
Familiarity with out-of-network benefits and upfront collections
Strong customer service and communication skills
Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Receptive to mentoring, training, and professional development
