Responsibilities

Hands on technical work in support of on-going projects in various disciplines within NASA Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) under the supervision of our more senior engineers
Basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration and systems engineering. Opportunities can vary from performing analysis on existing flight hardware, assisting in the design and development of future hardware, performing analysis for both completed and future launches
Activities can include but are not limited to: data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, software improvement projects, trade studies, design for manufacturer studies, creating or modifying tool designs, processing cause and corrective actions for non-conformances, maintain production work instructions, supplier management, and component or integrated systems tests
Will support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering
Perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the NASA/Bastion community and with fellow interns

Required

This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information
Must be pursuing bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, or a related field
Must have 1+ years of recent and related work experience
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS
All of Bastion's employees must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented
Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers
Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives
Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical

Preferred

Effective communicator and ability to work within a team environment
Self-starter requiring minimal direction in completing assigned tasks within ability to excel in dynamic environment
Exhibit strong interpersonal skills requiring daily interaction with varying levels of customer personnel
Training in common engineering computer programs such as MATLAB, Power Bi, MagicDraw and Python
NASA related experience is a plus. MSFC experience is a big plus
