15+ years expShoals MPE is seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Operations to lead and scale its Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical (MPE) division. This executive role is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the division, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities
Provide executive oversight for all MPE operations, including mechanical, plumbing, and electrical project execution
Establish and enforce standardized operating procedures, best practices, and performance metrics across the division
Ensure consistent execution of projects aligned with company goals, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations
Own divisional P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting, margin improvement, and cost controls
Partner with finance and estimating teams to review bids, validate risk, and ensure operational feasibility
Analyze project performance data to identify trends, mitigate risk, and improve profitability
Oversee all phases of project execution from preconstruction through closeout
Ensure effective coordination between project management, field supervision, procurement, and subcontractors
Drive accountability for schedule adherence, change management, and contract compliance
Lead, mentor, and develop Directors, Project Executives, Senior Project Managers, and Field Leadership
Build a strong leadership pipeline through training, succession planning, and performance management
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement
Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations
Partner with safety leadership to reduce incidents and improve safety performance metrics
Ensure consistent quality standards across all MPE projects
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning, capacity planning, and market expansion
Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, prefabrication, technology adoption, and process improvement
Support business development efforts by providing operational input and client-facing leadership when needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in mechanical, plumbing, and/or electrical construction
Proven executive-level experience managing large-scale, complex MPE operations
Strong understanding of construction financials, P&L management, and risk mitigation
Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced construction environment
Preferred
Experience overseeing multi-disciplined MPE divisions within a self-perform contractor
Strong background in healthcare, industrial, commercial, or large-scale institutional projects
