Responsibilities
Develop and maintain PHP SDK implementations within the Braintree SDK generation framework
Ensure SDKs follow PHP-specific idiomatic patterns rather than direct translations from other languages
Collaborate with cross-language engineering teams to maintain consistent SDK behavior across platforms
Contribute to code generation tooling and templating frameworks
Review, refactor, and improve existing SDK codebases for quality, readability, and long-term maintainability
Apply TypeScript knowledge when working with shared SDK generation logic and tooling
Qualification
Required
8+ years of professional experience with PHP
Strong knowledge of modern PHP frameworks, tooling, and best practices
Experience building or maintaining libraries, SDKs, or frameworks
Proven ability to write clean, idiomatic, and maintainable PHP code
Expert-level PHP proficiency, including experience across multiple PHP versions and strong coding standards
Solid understanding of HTTP fundamentals, including API consumption, request/response handling, and error management
Experience contributing to TypeScript-based codebases, particularly in shared tooling or generation frameworks
Preferred
Experience with Handlebars or similar templating engines
Experience with code generation tooling
SDK, developer tooling, or API platform experience
Familiarity with GraphQL
Experience building server-side SDKs or client libraries that abstract APIs
