Building Automation Engineer
Sterling Engineering is seeking an experienced Building Automation / Facilities Controls Technician to support critical facility, utility, and HVAC systems in a highly regulated manufacturing environment. The role focuses on Siemens Building Automation Systems and PPCL programming, aiming to maximize system reliability and prevent production interruptions.
Responsibilities
Work independently under the guidance of a supervisor or technical lead to support facility automation and controls systems
Perform daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Siemens BAS-controlled systems
Write, modify, and troubleshoot PPCL code for Siemens PXC controllers
Support HVAC, utility, and facility systems including air handlers, chillers, and related infrastructure
Identify control system issues and implement corrective actions to prevent production downtime
Assist operations and engineering teams in troubleshooting system issues and assessing potential impacts to production
Participate in the design, improvement, and optimization of facility and control systems
Support start-up of new systems and troubleshooting of existing facilities and equipment
Maintain system documentation, monitoring logs, Best Operating Practices (BOPs), and training materials for regulatory compliance
Recommend improvements related to system design, installation, start-up, and long-term maintenance strategies
Exchange technical information with engineers, project teams, management, contractors, and outside consultants
Ensure compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and company policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Hands-on experience with Siemens Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Strong PPCL coding experience (writing, modifying, and troubleshooting)
Experience working with Siemens PXC BACnet controllers
Experience with BAS platforms including: Siemens Apogee Insight, Siemens Desigo
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and facility controls (air handlers, chillers, utilities, etc.)
Solid understanding of HVAC sequences of operation
Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience supporting facility or building automation systems
High School Diploma or GED required
Working knowledge of basic regulatory requirements in a manufacturing or regulated environment
Preferred
Technical school certification or completion strongly preferred
