Spacecraft Electrical Engineer

Star Catcher Industries, Inc. is seeking a Spacecraft Electrical Engineer to support the development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network. This role involves the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems and components used on spacecraft and satellites.

Responsibilities

Designing COTS based PCBAs for use in a space environment, including motion controllers, power distribution, analog processing, and control systems
Rapid prototyping of electrical systems to verify their performance and reliability
Overseeing the manufacturing and assembly of electrical hardware and working with suppliers and manufacturers to procure parts, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards
Engaging in R&D to innovate new technologies or improve existing systems to enhance mission capabilities
Working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems and components into spacecraft, satellites, and other systems and ensuring that materials are compatible with design specifications and operational requirements
Creating technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, and test plans, to support compliance and future reference
Managing project timelines, resources, and budgets related to electrical engineering tasks

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field
At least five years of electrical engineering experience, with experience specifically in designing Class III IPC 6012 PCBs that operate a space environment
Experience with Altium Designer
Experience leading the development of electrical systems for challenging environments and missions
Experience with NASA/DoD life cycle and technical reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR)
Creative problem-solving skills, with the capability to develop innovative solutions to advanced engineering challenges
Proven experience with one or more of the following on at least one space vehicle program: batteries, microprocessors, FPGAs solar arrays, power distribution/conversion
Familiarity with space industry regulations, safety standards relevant to space missions and operations
Effective communication skills with the ability to interface with the team and organization and prioritize tasks, projects, and personnel from a variety of disciplines
U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
