SENIOR BUYER - SPD
City of Houston is seeking a Senior Buyer for their Strategic Procurement Division. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for procuring goods and services through the City's informal procurement process and creating specifications and scopes as needed.

Responsibilities
Creates and publishes informal procurement bids for competitive award selections
Reviews department submitted purchase requisitions for completeness and determined if the requested goods or services are available on existing City contracts
Researches, write, reviews, and evaluates purchase orders and bid specifications for goods and services, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with City and departmental policies and procedures
Coordinate with departments and vendors to meet procurement needs
Qualification
Required
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Purchasing or a closely related field
Four years of professional buying experience are required
Professional buying experience may substitute for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis

Preferred
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6
