Responsibilities
Conduct protein purification with FPLC including affinity, ion exchange, HIC, etc
Conduct protein purification from E. coli, mammalian and/or insect cells
Run protein characterization including: HPLC, SDS-PAGE, native PAGE, western blot, DLS, capillary electrophoresis, and endotoxin assay
Be responsible for cell culture maintenance and transfections including: CHO, HEK 293, Sf9, and Sf21
Run molecular cloning including: PCR, DNA digestion, ligation, and mutagenesis
Present data (written and/or oral) to clients as necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biology or Biochemistry with a minimum of 5-8 years' related experience, or, a Master's degree in Biology or Biochemistry with a minimum of 3-6 years' related experience, or, a PhD with 0-3 years' related experience
Extensive experience with cell culture and recombinant protein purification
Prior experience with protein purification system such as AKTA, NGC, or similar is desired
Skill of planning and organization of multiple projects simultaneously
Ability of scientific data presentation and client communication
Preferred
Prior experience with molecular cloning and protein analysis is preferred
Prior experience of purification of challenging proteins and troubleshooting skills are preferred
Prior crystallization and cryo-EM experience is an asset
Must pass a background check
Must pass a drug screen
May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
