Internship - Optical Engineer Summer 2026
ASML is a leading company in the development of lithography machines for microchip production. They are seeking an intern to join their YieldStar Sensor Group to focus on optical engineering projects that support their photolithography tools.

Responsibilities
Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
May require travel dependent on business needs

Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a degree in optical engineering or closely related areas of engineering and physics
Experience in optical design and tolerancing using CodeV or equivalent SW package
Experience in physical optics modeling with FRED or equivalent SW package
Optical sensors alignment experience using diverse alignment strategy and tools like optical collimators, mechanical gaging and interferometers
Optical sensor metrology test design and build
Expertise with diverse optical technologies and devices: polarization devices, relays, objectives, light sources, fibers, camera and detectors
Ability to observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work
Ability to learn and apply new information or skills
Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents
Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism
Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines
Result driven-demonstrate ownership and accountability
Identifies bottlenecks and drives improvements
Ability to work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with manager, co-workers and customer
Ability to work according to a strict set of procedures within the provided timelines
Preferred
Pursuing a Master or a Ph.D degrees in optical engineering or closely related areas of engineering and physics
Undergraduate students with specific expertise in key areas of optical design and optical systems
