Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL Server instances
Monitor performance; tune queries and optimize indexes
Implement HA/DR solutions (Always On, Log Shipping, Replication)
Manage backups, restores, security, users, roles, and permissions
Assess on-prem SQL environments and define migration strategies
Execute migrations to Azure SQL, Managed Instance, or AWS RDS
Use tools such as DMA, Azure DMS, or equivalent
Validate data integrity and performance post-migration
Optimize cloud databases for cost, scalability, and performance
Automate tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, or cloud-native tools
Monitor and automate alerts, reports, and maintenance jobs
Maintain detailed documentation of architecture and migrations
Support application and development teams
Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience with Cloud and SQL
2+ years of experience migrating on-prem environments to AWS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
10+ years as an MSSQL Server DBA
Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP
Proven on-prem to cloud migration experience
Strong skills in security, backup/recovery, and performance tuning
Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell
Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred
Hybrid or multi-cloud experience
IaC tools (ARM, Terraform)
DevOps and CI/CD for database deployments
Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or other RDBMS
Relevant certifications a plus
