Responsibilities
Create test plans, coordinate resources across test environments, and perform system-level functional, performance, and reliability testing for storage appliances and devices such as HDDs, SSDs, IO controllers, and Tape media
Analyze results to ensure that they meet Google's requirements and collaborate with ODMs/JDMs to ensure that the validation is up to Google standards
Report bugs and drive corrective action where needed with external suppliers and internal development teams
Communicate status updates to cross-functional teams and leadership
Organize data and incorporate learnings to maintain and improve the qualification process
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience
4 years of experience working in a Storage Hardware Validation technical environment
Preferred
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP)
Experience collecting and organizing data to reproduce results and explain what happened
Understanding of the storage system: (e.g., physical, functional, logical, mechanical, electrical, software, thermal etc), as well as how to test the interfaces
Familiarity with HDD, SSD or Tape technologies and the software stack that supports them
Ability to use scripting and automation to execute test algorithms, and then analyze results
Excellent communication skills
