New Grad, Entry LevelWestchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Unit Clerk to provide coordination, clerical, and administrative support to the health care team on patient care units. The role involves maintaining effective communication between the health care team and patients, performing clerical duties, and ensuring appropriate scheduling and documentation of patient services.

Responsibilities
Demonstrates the ability to process and interface appropriate information between the health care team and the patient, family/significant other to ensure quality patient outcomes
Maintains the flow of telephone communication through appropriate information gathering and relay
Performs such duties as filing, faxing, and photocopying
Supply management, maintains adequate levels of patient care/medical and office supplies
Appropriately transcribes MD orders and pertinent patient information
Greets and directs all customers in a friendly and courteous manner
Appropriately schedules patients for all needed services
Maintains knowledge of general Hospital and unit specific forms, ensuring adequate supplies are available at all times
Demonstrates understanding and respect for cultural and religious beliefs of people served
Demonstrates ability to respond to people served based on developmental age
Demonstrates ability to recognize and report suspected abuse and neglect according to policy procedure and law
Works collaboratively with MDs and NPs and staff Nurses
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience
Well developed interpersonal and communication skills
Additional training or education in the health care/medical terminology field desirable
Preferred
Knowledge of computer and office equipment preferred
