Responsibilities
Provide clear direction using the TBS COMPASS
Serves as the first line of communication between the Discipline Leader and the Lead Professionals of each reporting organization
Serve as escalation point for complex issues raised by Lead Professionals related to staffing, client relations, or project risks. Cultivate associates using Associate Development Plan (ADP) Process
Hire, mentor, motivate, consider promotions and salary adjustments, and terminate staff
Provide the necessary tools: Resources, Training, Technology, People, & Time and Attention
Delegate and communicate effectively
Conduct regular and effective team meetings
Conducts quarterly conversations
Reward and recognize direct reports
Provide strong HSE leadership
Ensure Lead Professionals and Group Leaders deliver profitable projects in accordance with TBS Project Management Best Practices and Guidelines and TBS 5-Step Proven Process
Ensure Lead Professionals and Group Leaders understand their part within the TBS Strategic Client Development Process
Assist in fee development and negotiation to result in a profitable project
Review and approve contracts; ensure solid contracts are executed on all projects within the group
Provide thorough review and approval of TBS Project Management Plans (PMPs)
Ensure Lead Professionals and Group Leaders are reviewing and updating their teams’ project reports weekly
Ensure Lead Professionals and Group Leaders deliver projects in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget
Ensure Lead Professionals and Group Leaders collect fees in a timely manner from their clients
Support Project Managers in building strategic client relationships
Ensure quality assurance/quality control and professional standard of care on all project work
Ensure the firm’s Policies & Procedures are implemented within the group
Allocate people and equipment effectively within and between groups
Assign projects based on team capacity and skill sets
Manage workload distribution to optimize team efficiency and utilization
Provide training, mentoring and certifications to maintain the professional standard of care
Confirm technology consistency across discipline’s core and specialty groups
Ensure the discipline utilizes current knowledge, practices, standards, and technology

Group project profitability
Group utilization
Directly supervises and mentors Lead Professionals and Group Leaders across multiple organizations within the Discipline, fostering professional growth and technical excellence
Support career development through mentoring, coaching, and growth opportunities
Oversees all other staff within their group
Responsible for conducting associate development plans for Lead Professionals, including alignment to firm goals, leadership competencies, and project delivery outcomes
Qualification
Required
College course work or technical training plus five years related technical work experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional certification or licensing in work specialization
Actively involved in career-geared professional organizations
Actively participate in leadership training (i.e., ACEC Leadership Pipeline)
Actively use effective communications skills (Written, Verbal, and Non-verbal)
