Purchasing Manager
Walker Elliott has partnered with its client to seek a Purchasing Manager for their Las Vegas, Nevada headquarters. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning, buying, and replenishing materials and finished goods to support multiple manufacturing and contract packaging sites.
Responsibilities
Negotiate prices, terms, quality standards, and delivery requirements for third-party contract packaged finished goods
Manage the purchase order (PO) replenishment process to align inventory levels with customer demand and production needs
Prepare and process purchase orders and receipts for contract packers for both finished goods and packaging materials
Support OEM planning and purchasing, ensuring components and materials are available for production schedules
Expedite purchase orders as needed to confirm vendor receipt and protect quality and delivery timelines
Develop and implement contract management guidelines, instructions, policies, and procedures
Partner with Sales, Demand Planning, and Distribution to determine order quantities, timing, and replenishment strategies
Participate in the budget process, monitor purchase price variance (PPV), and support cost control initiatives
Analyze material usage and costs, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and drive cost optimization
Maintain proper inventory procedures, including items stored at offsite storage locations
Coordinate replenishment of contract packed finished goods from suppliers to distribution centers
Contribute to the development of new raw material specifications and supplier capabilities
Identify and resolve supply issues quickly, using data to develop and evaluate alternative solutions
Collaborate with the Production Planner on intercompany planning and create procurement schedules for copacker facilities
Monitor incoming orders and materials to ensure timely production and on-time delivery to customers
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
4+ years of procurement and/or material planning experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supply contracts and supplier performance
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word
Strong verbal and written communication skills and solid quantitative/math abilities
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
Preferred
Experience working with an ERP system (Oracle preferred)
