Responsibilities

Support existing staff with full-cycle accounting for a nonprofit and its for-profit subsidiaries
Ensure GAAP, IRS, and nonprofit compliance (including UBIT)
Oversee consolidated financials, inter-company entries, and monthly reporting
Support annual audits and 990/1120 filings
Oversee accounting across Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, PayPal, Stripe
Maintain accurate revenue recognition, inventory, COGS, and merchant fees
Reconcile settlements, sales tax, shipping, and refunds
Manage integrations with QBO / NetSuite / Xero
Support AP/AR, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and internal controls, establishment and operations
Provide financial analysis and scenario modeling to support leadership decisions
Partner with leadership on pricing of products and services, including margin analysis and sustainability modeling
Strengthen accounting policies and workflows
Partner with auditors, tax advisors, and cross-functional teams
Mentor and support junior finance, operations, or administrative staff
Help non-finance teammates build fluency around budgets, margins, and financial decision-making
Serve as a calm, trusted resource in building financial confidence across the organization

Required

7+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with demonstrated responsibility for accounting, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Direct experience operating in both for-profit and nonprofit environments, with a clear understanding of the differences in governance and oversight, financial reporting and compliance, stakeholder and board expectations, mission-driven versus commercial decision-making
Hands-on experience with nonprofit financial management, including some combination of grant accounting or restricted fund tracking, program- or fund-based budgeting and reporting, compliance with donor, grantor, or regulatory restrictions, board-level financial reporting in a nonprofit context
Proven ability to manage dual or multi-entity financial structures, which may include for-profit subsidiaries supporting a nonprofit mission, affiliated nonprofit and commercial entities, shared services, intercompany transactions, or cost allocations across entity types
Strong GAAP foundation, with comfort navigating different accounting treatments and reporting requirements across for-profit and nonprofit entities
Experience partnering with executive leadership and boards, translating financial data into clear, mission-aligned insights for diverse stakeholders
Demonstrated judgment balancing financial sustainability with mission impact, particularly in compliance-heavy or resource-constrained environments
Ability to build, improve, and maintain financial controls and systems appropriate for both nonprofit accountability and commercial efficiency

Preferred

social enterprise familiarity, automation tools (Zapier, HubSpot, Klaviyo), or prior Controller-level leadership
CPA in good standing
