Responsibilities

Lead thermal analysis and design for avionics hardware, including PCBs, enclosures, and integrated avionics assemblies
Develop and validate thermal models using analytical and numerical methods (e.g., conduction, convection, radiation)
Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses to support design decisions and mission requirements
Define thermal requirements and margins for avionics systems operating in high-altitude, low-pressure, and extreme temperature environments
Support hardware layout and enclosure design to optimize heat dissipation and component placement
Specify and evaluate thermal management solutions, including heat sinks, thermal interface materials (TIMs), coatings, and passive/active cooling approaches
Plan, support, and analyze thermal testing (e.g., thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, environmental testing)
Correlate test results with models and update analyses as designs evolve
Support design reviews (PDR, CDR) with clear documentation and technical presentations
Collaborate with systems engineering to ensure thermal performance aligns with power, reliability, and mission requirements
Contribute to failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions related to thermal issues
