NEOGOV is seeking a Planning Intern (Seasonal) to support the Planning Department in various planning functions. The intern will assist with daily operations, long-term planning projects, and help prepare materials for public meetings and research.

Responsibilities

Assists with planning department duties and administration
Helps prepare maps, reports, presentations, and informational/educational materials
Attends and supports public meetings, workshops, and hearings
Conducts limited field observations and site visits as needed
Attends various meetings with elected, evidentiary, and advisory boards
Conducts research for text amendments, land use, or special projects
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Enrollment in or completion of a college or university planning or geography degree program
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license, or any valid driver's license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver's license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina

Time management, reliability, and a willingness to learn and accept feedback
Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments, supervisors, city officials, and the public
