Responsibilities
Provide technical, program, and account management expertise to cross-functional business development and engineering program team execution activities
Define, plan, lead, and perform System Component Development, Controls Software Development, System Integration, and System Verification & Validation activity
Plan and manage engineering program resources according to project requirements
Mentor less experienced Engineers in the field of Controls and Electrification
Work on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, development of electrified systems/components, technical plans, powertrain system and component testing, data analysis and validation
Support/ensure data quality and write technical project reports
Review project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations
Coordinate activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues
Define, execute, and support research and development activities
Support, organize, and lead customer meetings
Identify and support business and strategic company development activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelors' degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or related field
Minimum of 7+ years' experience in area of expertise
Technical Deep understanding of electrification principles/system development; power electronics (inverter, DCDC, etc), emachine, low voltage/high voltage battery systems (including Client)
Strong experience in controls development in an automotive, or similar industry ▪ Matlab/Simulink, C, Python, etc
Strong experience in electrical circuit design, ideally HV/power electronics development
Experience and willingness to support hands on development, testing and integration of systems in various development domains; laboratory, test cell, vehicle
Identify, initiate, and support opportunities for technology development, process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and re-use
Provide effective developmental leadership for other departmental staff in areas of expertise
Published at least 3 papers accepted by a professional organization or 3 patents awarded
Expertise in regulatory and market segment requirements and end-user expectations
Functionality in all and recognized expert in at least one of the following areas: Energy Storage System Design, Control, Electric Motor/Generator Design and Control, Motor/Generator Inverter Design and Control, Overall Hybrid Powertrain System Design and Control, Vehicle System Design and Control, On Board Diagnostics System Design and Control, Powertrain Controls Software Development Tools, Methods, and Processes, Formal Systems Engineering Tools, Methods, and Processes
Preferred
Masters' degree preferred
PhD degree in Engineering desired
