Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for precision machined parts, electronics, avionics, composites, castings, forgings, and special processes
Lead supplier technical evaluations, audits, and capability assessments
Drive supplier development initiatives to improve quality, cost, capacity, and on-time delivery
Manage supplier relationships for both NPI (New Product Introduction) and long-term production programs
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to ensure design-for-manufacturability and cost
Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications to ensure supplier compliance
Perform should-cost / cost breakdown analyses and support negotiations
Support make-vs-buy decisions and risk assessments
Ensure suppliers comply with AS9100, NADCAP, DFARS, ITAR, and customer-specific requirements
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks for high-reliability and mission-critical components
Support first article inspections (FAI), PPAPs, and qualification activities
Partner with Supply Chain, Contracts, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management
Support program milestones and customer deliverables by ensuring supplier readiness
Provide technical guidance during supplier escalations or corrective actions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related discipline)
3–8+ years of experience in sourcing, supplier engineering, or manufacturing within Aerospace & Defense
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and standards
Experience sourcing complex, low-volume / high-mix A&D components
Knowledge of aerospace regulations and quality systems (e.g., AS9100, ITAR)
Preferred
Experience supporting DoD, space, aviation, or defense OEM programs
Familiarity with NADCAP special processes (heat treat, plating, coatings, NDT, etc.)
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Costpoint, etc.)
Background in supplier audits or quality engineering
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience
