Responsibilities

The Technical Architect is accountable for the technical integrity, scalability, and long-term sustainability of the Salesforce Service Cloud implementation
This role owns how the solution is built and ensures that all technical decisions align with Salesforce platform constraints, Capgemini engineering standards, and the client’s nonfunctional requirements
The Technical Architect serves as the technical authority who stabilizes inherited designs, exposes hidden risks, and prevents architecture drift as delivery transitions to a Capgemini-led, offshore-heavy model
The Technical Architect defines and enforces the technical architecture for the Service Cloud solution, including data model extensions, Apex and Lightning Web Component design, integration patterns, security model implementation, and performance considerations
This role is responsible for establishing coding standards, design guardrails, and technical patterns that offshore development teams must follow, and for reviewing technical designs and code to ensure consistency and quality across teams and releases
This role works in close partnership with the Solution Architect to ensure that functional intent is translated into technically sound and scalable implementations
The Technical Architect evaluates proposed functional designs for feasibility, platform limits, and long-term maintainability, and identifies when business requirements introduce unacceptable technical risk
They are expected to propose alternative technical approaches when necessary and clearly articulate the implications of those options to delivery leadership
The Technical Architect owns the technical health of the org over time
This includes proactively managing Salesforce governor limits, data volume growth, asynchronous processing, error handling, and monitoring
They are responsible for ensuring that integrations with external systems follow approved patterns and are resilient, secure, and observable
They also ensure that release and deployment processes support reliable delivery without introducing instability into production environments
The Technical Architect plays a hands-on leadership role with offshore development teams without acting as a day-to-day people manager
They provide technical direction, conduct design and code reviews, and mentor senior developers to raise the overall technical maturity of the team
They are expected to identify skill gaps early and work with delivery leadership to address them before they impact delivery timelines or quality
This role requires deep, practical knowledge of Salesforce platform internals, including Apex execution context, governor limits, transaction boundaries, security enforcement, and Lightning component architecture
Experience designing for high-volume Service Cloud implementations, complex integrations, and multi-team delivery environments is essential
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, source-driven development, and environment management in large programs is expected
The Technical Architect must be comfortable stabilizing in-flight implementations, identifying inherited technical debt, and making pragmatic decisions about when to remediate versus when to contain risk
They must be able to convert undocumented or informal technical decisions made by prior delivery teams into explicit, documented architecture that can be consistently followed going forward
Experience working in mixed onshore and offshore delivery models is required
This role is not a pure hands-on developer role, although the Technical Architect must be capable of deep technical inspection when needed
It is not a project management role and not a functional requirements role
It sits squarely at the intersection of platform engineering and delivery governance and requires the authority to slow delivery when technical quality is at risk
The ideal candidate has 10 or more years of Salesforce delivery experience, with multiple large-scale enterprise implementations and prior experience serving as a technical or platform architect
A background as a senior Salesforce developer is strongly preferred
Success in this role is measured by stable releases, low defect escape rates, controlled technical debt, predictable performance at scale, and a Salesforce org that remains operable and extensible as delivery velocity increases
