Responsibilities
Performs basic landscape maintenance and installation duties
Performs maintenance and installation of irrigation systems, hardscapes, and landscape lighting
Operates and maintains various landscape maintenance equipment
Assist in traffic control and flagging as necessary to maintain a safe and efficient jobsite
Installs and maintains the city’s holiday decorations and banners
Performs other related job duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Alabama Class B Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of equipment required to operate
Knowledge of the methods, principles, techniques, equipment, tools and practices of building and grounds maintenance
Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, protocols, principles, practices, and procedures
Knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques as related to division equipment and vehicles
Knowledge of local government operations, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures
Skill in operating a variety of equipment and tools related to building and grounds maintenance activities
Skill in the application of pesticides and herbicides
Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing
Ability to meet and deal with employees and the public in an effective and courteous manner
Ability to get along with others, and work effectively with the public and co-workers
Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters
Ability to work independently, work well with others, and manage time effectively
