Machining Technician
Apera is a leading aerospace program developing next-generation flight hardware, and they are seeking a Machining Technician to join their Production Realization Lab. In this role, you will produce precision components, support prototype builds, and collaborate with engineers to improve processes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including 5‑axis machining centers, 8‑axis turning centers, and Wire EDM machines
Cut material, build tooling, set fixtures, prove out and run programs, and finish parts per programmer direction
Measure parts to tight tolerances using precision inspection tools
Produce and modify parts quickly to support prototype rigs and assemblies
Maintain equipment and keep work areas organized and safe
Record build data and maintain accurate project documentation
Collaborate with engineers to identify issues and recommend improvements
Qualification
Required
Skilled in using precision measurement tools: bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators
Experience with CNC machining (lathe, mill‑turn, EDM and/or 5‑axis)
Ability to perform machine maintenance
Strong attention to detail with solid documentation skills
Familiarity with band saws, grinders, pneumatic tools, and general machine shop equipment
Awareness of electrical hazards and safe practices around high‑voltage and rotating machinery
Minimum of 2 years as a machinist
Strong communication skills for accurate data handover
Preferred
Experience with electric vehicle propulsion components
Knowledge of G‑code
Technical school or vocational training (not required but beneficial)
