Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale analytics and BI solutions using Power BI and Azure Databricks Lakehouse architecture
Architect and develop scalable, high-performing, self-service Power BI datasets and data models
Integrate, prepare, and manage large, complex datasets using Azure Databricks Lakehouse
Implement robust data governance, security controls, and metadata management using Unity Catalog
Optimize Power BI reports and analytics solutions for high performance through best practices in data modeling and query optimization
Lead and mentor junior data engineers and BI developers, fostering technical growth and best practices
Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to deliver multiple, simultaneous BI projects
Provide architectural leadership, technical direction, and strategic vision for BI platforms and solutions
Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise standards, security best practices, and support future business expansion
Communicate technical requirements, constraints, and recommendations to stakeholders, enterprise architects, and management
Contribute to the development and standardization of architectural methods, procedures, and deliverables
Stay abreast of emerging BI, cloud, and data technologies; advise on adoption and deployment strategies
Manage technical challenges, risks, and inter-team coordination throughout the project lifecycle
Support development of enterprise architecture artifacts and provide expert consulting services
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, tools, and best practices for BI and data architecture
Qualification
Required
13+ years IT experience, 7+ years in BI/data engineering/architecture
Expert in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling) and Azure Databricks Lakehouse
Proficient in Unity Catalog, cloud-based data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes
Experience in CI/CD, DataOps, and deployment best practices
Excellent communication, leadership, documentation, and interpersonal skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC (4 days/week)
