Production Service Engineer 3 - Citrix
Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Production Services Engineer 3 (Senior Citrix Engineer) to architect, implement, administer, and support their hybrid Citrix Virtual Apps environment. Responsibilities
Architect, deploy, and manage hybrid Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environment spanning Citrix Cloud (Azure) and on-prem, including Cloud Connectors, Delivery Controllers, Studio/Director, License Server, and supporting SQL and AD dependencies
PVS image lifecycle management: build, optimize, and version golden images; schedule and execute maintenance cycles; manage target devices, caching strategies, and streaming performance
Operate and optimize multi-server, load-balanced StoreFront on-prem, including authentication flows, resource filtering, and integration with Citrix Workspace app; implement/maintain FAS for single sign-on as needed
Ensure platform performance, availability, and security through capacity planning, HA/DR design, patching/updates (e.g., LTSR/CUR), and proactive monitoring; analyze and remediate issues impacting logon times, ICA/HDX performance, and application delivery
Troubleshoot and resolve complex Citrix issues (profiles, printing, Teams optimization, graphics acceleration, policy conflicts, GPOs, certificates, MFA/conditional access), serving as the Tier 3 escalation point
Develop automation and tooling (PowerShell, Citrix SDK/REST APIs, Azure CLI/PowerShell) for provisioning, image updates, monitoring, and configuration management; maintain runbooks and SOPs
Collaborate with Windows, Azure, networking, and cybersecurity teams to provision and right-size session hosts in Azure/on-prem; integrate Citrix with AD, DNS/DHCP, certificates, and enterprise security controls
Partner with application owners to package, deliver, and validate apps; establish standards for image hygiene, baselines, hardening, and change management in a healthcare-regulated environment
Maintain comprehensive documentation (architectural diagrams, configurations, standards, procedures) and contribute to roadmap planning, technology evaluations, and upgrade projects
Coordinate with vendors/TAC and internal stakeholders; mentor junior engineers/analysts; participate in an On-Call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical Citrix services
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Systems support operations experience installing, analyzing, and diagnosing hardware and software problems. And a Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field, with 3+ years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 4+ years of experience, or an Accredited Technical Training Certificate with at least 5+ years of experience
Preferred
In-depth, hands-on experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) in both Citrix Cloud (Azure) and on-prem environments, including Cloud Connectors, Delivery Controllers, Machine Catalogs, Delivery Groups, Studio/Director, and License Server
Advanced expertise with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) for non-persistent VDAs: image creation/optimization, versioning, maintenance cycles, target device management, caching, and network streaming; MCS experience a plus
Strong experience managing StoreFront (multi-server, load-balanced) and Citrix access components; Citrix ADC/Gateway knowledge and Federated Authentication Service (FAS) experience are a plus
Solid Windows Server, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, PKI/certificates, and authentication fundamentals; familiarity with MFA and conditional access
Experience operating Citrix workloads in Azure (compute/storage/network), with knowledge of Azure AD integration; exposure to Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365 Cloud PC is a plus; Azure certifications are preferred
Proficiency in performance monitoring and user experience optimization (HDX policies, Workspace app, logon time analysis, profile management via Citrix UPM and/or FSLogix, printing, Teams optimization)
Strong understanding of IT security principles, compliance, and change management in healthcare (HIPAA), including image hardening, patch management, and least-privilege access
Scripting/automation skills using PowerShell, Citrix SDK/APIs, and Azure CLI/PowerShell
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and lead cross-functional initiatives
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate in a team environment
Experience with complementary enterprise technologies is a plus: Azure VDI, Commvault or Cohesity backup solutions; Pure Storage SAN/NAS; Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale NAS; Intune/SCCM
Relevant certifications such as Citrix CCE-V, CCP-V, CCA-V, CCP-N, Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305), Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), ITIL, or similar are preferred
