Human Resources Intern (Summer 2026)

The N.C. Department of Information Technology is seeking a Human Resources Intern for the Summer of 2026. This part-time internship will involve assisting with various HR tasks, maintaining records, and contributing to recruitment efforts within the North Carolina National Guard.

Responsibilities

Providing information by answering communications; referring special communications to appropriate person
Maintaining human resources personnel and medical records
Maintaining manager and employee confidence by keeping human resources information confidential
Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
Accomplish human resources and organization mission by completing tasks as needed
Managing HR records including applications, applicant logs, and employee forms
Responding to HR-related queries within the company
Assisting with the distribution of training material
Assisting with new employee onboarding
Contributing to recruitment efforts
Assisting HR Manager and staff with day-to-day HR operations

Required

Must be currently enrolled in college or a recent college graduate
Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (or a recent graduate) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Paralegal field
A college transcript is required to determine eligibility
The transcript must include your name, courses/major, and the name of the college/university
Applicants are expected to have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
The ability to handle confidential matters with tact and discretion
The ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
The ability to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within the area of responsibility
Possess the ability to learn and apply rules, procedures, and practices for various human resources management activities or personnel actions
Interns must submit to a background check and fingerprinting or consent to agency onboarding requirements
Transcripts are required to determine eligibility for this internship
Applicants who earned college credit hours but did not complete a degree program must attach an unofficial transcript to receive credit
International degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting
