Software Engineer 5 - Live Media Asset Management
Netflix is a company dedicated to entertaining the world, and they are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Creative Compute and Storage team. In this role, you will design and build core backend services for the Live Media Asset Management platform, integrating it with Netflix’s infrastructure and ensuring efficient workflows for live media.

Responsibilities
Design and build backend services that power the Live MAM platform (e.g., ingest orchestration, media/metadata normalization, rights‑aware APIs, timecode‑based services)
Integrate a third‑party MAM with Netflix’s hybrid infrastructure, ensuring a coherent media and metadata flow across systems
Implement robust data models and APIs for live media assets, metadata, rights and restrictions, and time‑aligned events
Collaborate with partner teams (engineering, production, operations, vendors) to deliver end‑to‑end workflows for live and near‑live content
Work with AI/ML teams and services to incorporate automated tagging and indexing into the MAM ecosystem
Own services in production, including observability, reliability, and on‑call, for systems that support time‑critical live workflows
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience building and operating backend/platform services in production
Strong foundation in distributed systems and event‑driven architectures
Experience in at least one of: Media platforms, MAM/DAM systems, or video workflows (live or VOD), or Complex integrations between 3rd‑party platforms and in‑house infrastructure
Comfortable working in a hybrid cloud + on‑prem environment; able to reason about large‑scale storage, transcoding, and messaging systems
Platform mindset: you design reusable services and clear APIs for multiple internal customers
Care deeply about reliability and observability, especially for time‑sensitive workflows
Strong collaborator who can work effectively with engineering, product, and operations partners
Self‑directed, pragmatic, and comfortable operating with freedom and responsibility
Preferred
Experience with live sports media workflows or Live Sports MAM (e.g., multi-feed ingest, melts/highlights, sports-specific metadata and stats integration)
Prior work integrating vendor MAM systems into in‑house media infrastructure at scale
