Responsibilities

Assist in the synthesis and processing of materials for all-solid-state batteries and/or conventional lithium-ion batteries
Perform materials characterization and property evaluation, including ionic and electronic conductivity measurements, structural analysis, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), temperature-dependent behavior, and microstructural observations
Conduct battery performance characterization, such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical testing, and cycling performance evaluation
Apply descriptive data analytics to experimental and computational datasets to identify trends, correlations, and performance drivers
Analyze, summarize, and communicate research findings through technical presentations, written reports, and documentation suitable for internal dissemination and potential publication

Required

Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field
Demonstrated advanced research experience, with a strong record of scientific publications and/or filed patents in relevant technical areas
Strong theoretical foundation in inorganic and organic chemistry, materials science, and reaction kinetics
Hands-on experience in the design, synthesis, and processing of novel materials for electrochemical systems
Proficiency with a broad range of materials characterization techniques, including structural, electrical, and electrochemical methods
Demonstrated expertise in electrochemical system performance evaluation, including battery testing and diagnostics
Strong analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
High level of motivation and passion for empirical research, with the ability to address complex scientific questions through data-driven approaches
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts and research findings
Must be currently enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university program
Minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent)
Availability to work full-time during the internship
Ability to work onsite in Silicon Valley, CA, for a period of three months or longer

Preferred

Strong foundational knowledge of electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry, with practical application in materials or electrochemical systems
Familiarity with battery-related materials and processes, including electrolytes, electrodes, and interfacial phenomena, is a plus
Ability to connect fundamental scientific principles with real-world automotive and energy-storage challenges
