Civil Engineer II Solid Waste-Diversion and Disposal

The Civil Engineer II of Solid Waste Diversion and Disposal Division performs division engineering work at the intermediate level under the supervision of a professional civil engineer, focusing on managing solid waste disposal and materials recovery.

Responsibilities
Reviewing and interpreting plans and drawings
Producing cost estimates
Producing and interpreting project specifications
Advising on technical aspects of project design and construction documents
Writing correspondence to vendors
Reviewing construction document submittals
Material submittals and pay estimates
Preparing documentation for City staff and management
Qualification
Required
One year of experience in the practice of civil engineering work
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
Two years of experience in civil engineering and a related engineering degree
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record
Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage
Preferred
Experience With Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Tutorial or teaching Engineering subject matter
Experience With Or Class Work In Fluid Mechanics/Dynamics
Experience With Or Class Work In Structural Analysis
Experience With Or Class Work In Solid Waste Engineering
Experience With Or Class Work In Electro-Mechanical Systems
