Biological Scientist III
The University of Florida is seeking a Biological Scientist III to conduct and collaborate on designing experiments using various biological models. The role involves performing laboratory techniques, supervising compliance with safety protocols, managing laboratory supplies, and mentoring students in laboratory methods.

Responsibilities
Conducts and collaborates on designing experiments using animal, cell and human tissue models, performs laboratory techniques including tissue collection, processing and analysis
Lead support for studies related to pre-natal and post-natal outcomes
Conducts molecular biology techniques (PCR, Western blots, immunohistochemistry)
Develops and maintains detailed laboratory records and documentation
Supervises and maintains compliance with all IACUC, biohazard, and DEA handling requirements
Maintains laboratory protocols
Serves as secondary point-of-contact for IACUC inspections and EH&S safety surveys
Evaluates Center laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and quality of experimental results and conducts routine maintenance as needed
Establishes supply inventory levels and protocols
Manages all laboratory supplies
Develops and maintain inventory database tools
Responsible for all orders, as well as maintain compliance with UF policy for costs comparison, p-cards, animal charges, and authorizing payments
Mentors undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory methods and procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related field and seven years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in biology or a closely related field and five years of relevant experience; Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field and two years of relevant experience

Experience with animal research and a familiarity with techniques to study mammalian physiology
Experience with data analysis software
Experience working autonomously while maintaining effective team communication in an academic research
