Responsibilities
Direct research operations through collaborative planning and data-oriented approach to research reporting, analytics, and continuous improvement for a complex sponsored research portfolio at Sargent College
Directly oversee proposal development and submission, track submissions, awards and progress reports, provide detailed cost analyses and budget justifications, and devise strategies to grow and diversify funding. Facilitate complex proposals and awards, including multi-department and multi-school initiatives. Provide portfolio backstopping as needed
Develop and review complex budgets, prepare analyses and progress reports, manage administrative functions for the research administration team
Create and implement systems, policies and procedures that support the delivery of high-quality research services and ensure compliance with university and sponsor policies and procedures
Lead a high-functioning team of grants management staff of 3.0 FTE. Train, mentor, develop, and provide performance feedback for research administration staff
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience
Expert knowledge of best practices for both pre-award application processes and post-award financial management and compliance
Proven ability to manage compliance with federal government grants and contracts and effectively interpret and apply university and sponsor policies and procedures
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage expectations and solve problems independently
Excellent technical skills to manage various software platforms, budgets, and reporting tools
Preferred
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation
Master's degree
Prior experience as a manager of people with proven ability to train, mentor and drive performance of professional staff
