Temporary Database Administrator/Manager
Skirball Cultural Center is seeking a Temporary Database Administrator to manage and maintain their donor, financial, and membership databases for the Finance and Development Departments. The role involves ensuring data integrity, security, and functionality while supporting fundraising and financial tracking efforts.

Responsibilities
Maintain and manage the museum’s donor, financial, and membership databases (e.g., Altru, Financial Edge, or other CRM platforms)
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all databases
Implement and maintain database standards, procedures, and protocols for data entry, updates, and data quality control
Perform regular database backups, updates, and migrations as needed
Assist with reconciliation processes between the Development and Finance departments, including gift processing and financial reporting
Generate accurate financial reports related to donations, grants, pledges, and membership revenue
Support Finance in Administrative tasks – answering phones, scheduling, setting up meetings, communications
Create and manage donor and membership records, ensuring accurate information is available for stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation efforts
Manage data entry, ensuring processes and standards are kept
Work with Associate Director of Development in developing best practices and standards for data management
Generate customized queries, reports, mailing lists, and dashboards to assist in development campaigns, fundraising events, and board reporting
Collaborate with the Development team to segment donor data for targeted fundraising appeals and communications
Support donor related events, including exhibition openings, lunches, dinners, or any other type of monthly donor related activity
Monitor and enforce database security protocols, ensuring that donor and financial data is protected in compliance with organizational policies and relevant laws
Perform regular audits of data to ensure compliance with legal and financial regulations
Manage user access levels to ensure proper access and security measures
Provide training and ongoing technical support to staff in the Development and Finance departments on database usage, data entry best practices, and report generation
Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely solutions
Work with IT to implement software updates, database enhancements, and new features to improve database performance
Recommend and implement improvements in database processes and data management systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or extensive experience in Information Technology, Linguistics, Computer Science, or related field
3-5 years of experience managing databases in a non-profit, museum, or similar environment
Proficiency in donor CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Tessitura, Altru) and financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
Strong understanding of SQL, data management principles, and data integrity
Experience with database integrations and data reconciliation between systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Excellent communication and training skills
Preferred
Knowledge of fundraising processes and nonprofit financial systems is highly preferred
