Business Architect
HMSA is seeking a Business Architect who will play a crucial role in modeling the organizational structure and operational processes to align enterprise strategy with operational initiatives. The position involves engaging with business stakeholders to transform operational processes and performance through effective use of technology and data solutions.

Responsibilities
Identifies potential opportunities for business architecture modeling within the organization
Engages stakeholders to assess the business value of proposed business architecture requests to prioritize them amongst other initiatives already in progress or in queue
Collaborates with stakeholders to identify the business owner, project manager and business and IT subject-matter experts (SMEs) for the business architecture modeling project
Facilitates the project kick-off meeting to introduce the project team to the objectives, scope, and timeline for completing business architecture modeling activities
Performs business modeling as an iterative process that relies heavily on the input from business and IT SMEs
The Business Architect must solicit feedback and be flexible in modifying the models as new information is introduced
Performs strategy mapping that links business strategy to business operations goals, value streams and business capabilities and defines objective measures and target metrics at each level of the mapping
Defines value streams that identify how value is generated for external and internal customers and that contribute to attaining the business operations' primary goals
Performs business capability mapping to identify what a business does to create value for its customers and decomposes each capability into the next lower level of detail until operational business processes are identified
Assesses current business capabilities based on three key factors: People, Process and Technology
Assesses how well business capabilities are being supported by the people performing those business functions using evaluation criteria including productivity, capacity and competency
Assesses how well business capabilities are being supported by the processes used to perform those business functions using evaluation criteria including effectiveness, efficiency, and quality
Assesses IT applications that support the business capabilities using evaluation criteria including functionality, performance, flexibility, integration, and user experience
Collaborates with business and IT stakeholders to research, evaluate and recommend solutions based on business goals and requirements and balanced by resource constraints
Identifies Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotic or other technology solutions for automating business processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Identifies solutions for optimizing or transforming business processes to improve performance and upskill workforce
Applies process improvement methodologies to optimize manual processes
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to apply organizational change management methods to ensure successful adoption and integration of transformed business processes
Measures the impact on key business metrics pre- and post-implementation of the selected solutions
Through the application of effective project and program management skills, the Business Architect manages a portfolio of their assigned business architecture projects ("the program")
Develops and updates the strategy, prioritization, roadmap and delivery timeline for the program and its component projects
Collaborates with business and IT stakeholders and leadership to establish key business goals and objectives for the program and ensures alignment with corporate goals and initiatives
Regularly monitors and communicates program and project status to business and IT stakeholders
Creates program and project dashboards that report project health, completion progress, issues, risks, target metrics and budget variances
Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed
Attends training, conferences and seminars as needed or assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and four years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
Strong verbal, written, presentation and facilitation skills with all levels of the organization
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a business and technology environment
Strong organizational and time management skills
Intermediate program and project management skills
Intermediate business analysis and process mapping skills
Intermediate process improvement and performance improvement skills
Intermediate organizational change management skills
Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams
Training and certification in Business Architecture or Enterprise Architecture from a leading organization such as The Open Group (TOGAF), Business Architecture Guild, Business Architecture Center of Excellence, etc. In lieu of prior certification, candidates must complete TOGAF Business Architecture certification within the first year of employment in this position
Training and certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar process optimization framework and methodology. In lieu of prior certification, candidates must complete Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) within the second year of employment in this position
