CELL DEVELOPMENT AND PROCESS ENGINEERING ROLES — QUANTUMSCAPE (CALIFORNIA, USA)
QuantumScape is a leader in the development of next-generation battery technology, and they are seeking multiple engineering roles to drive innovations in cell development and production processes. The positions include responsibilities such as optimizing production processes, defining strategies for cell development, and leading end-to-end development efforts to enhance battery performance and reliability.

Responsibilities
Take ownership of key production processes, working directly with operators and engineers to maintain line throughput, yield, and performance
Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot automated production processes while collaborating with Operations, R&D, Automation, Quality, and Specification teams to improve throughput, efficiency, and yield
Lead the introduction of new processes, identify bottlenecks and failure points, and implement both short- and long-term mitigation strategies, including control plans
Define strategy, orchestrate multi‑quarter development programs, and mentor engineers while staying close to the work—uncovering mechanisms and translating them into concrete changes to cell components, design, and processes
Scope and lead end‑to‑end development efforts that directly impact cell performance and reliability
Lead projects to devise innovative cell designs, specify and optimize assembly processes, and integrate new materials/components into our anode‑less solid‑state batteries
Partner across automation, metrology, FA and manufacturing, owning projects and driving them to completion
Validate changes to cell design, develop and optimize cell assembly processes, and integrate new materials and components
Turn test and metrology data into insights that guide the next build—working closely with cell design, metrology, failure analysis, and manufacturing teams
Qualification
Required
Highly motivated Principal Process Engineer who excels at solving complex process challenges and leading cross-functional initiatives
Hands-on, floor-oriented approach to take ownership of key production processes
Experience working directly with operators and engineers to maintain line throughput, yield, and performance
Ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot automated production processes
Collaboration with Operations, R&D, Automation, Quality, and Specification teams to improve throughput, efficiency, and yield
Experience leading the introduction of new processes
Ability to identify bottlenecks and failure points
Implementation of both short- and long-term mitigation strategies, including control plans
Strong background in electrochemical energy storage
Mechanical/data aptitude
Ability to define strategy and orchestrate multi-quarter development programs
Mentoring engineers while staying close to the work
Ability to uncover mechanisms and translate them into concrete changes to cell components, design, and processes
Experience scoping and leading end-to-end development efforts that directly impact cell performance and reliability
Ability to devise innovative cell designs, specify and optimize assembly processes, and integrate new materials/components into anode-less solid-state batteries
Experience partnering across automation, metrology, FA, and manufacturing
Ownership of projects and driving them to completion
Curiosity and hands-on engineering skills to push the performance and reliability of anode-free solid-state batteries
Validation of changes to cell design
Development and optimization of cell assembly processes
Integration of new materials and components
Ability to turn test and metrology data into insights that guide the next build
