Responsibilities
General Counsel to condominium and cooperative boards and associations in connection with a variety of real estate related matters, including:
Negotiating agreements with shareholders and unit owners
Drafting and reviewing agreements with third-party service providers (e.g., managing agents, contractors, architects, vendors)
Dispute resolution matters (e.g., contract disputes, litigations)
Advising condominium and cooperative boards in connection with compliance matters (e.g., environmental requirements, regulatory filings, health/safety obligations); and
Negotiation of a wide range of legal documents (e.g., vendor agreements, access agreements, construction contracts, financing agreements, notices, demand letters)
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
License to practice law in good standing in the State of New York
3-5 years of experience practicing in real estate including, ideally, condominium and cooperative matters
Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Must be willing and able to interact directly with clients and counterparties
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with junior and senior attorneys
