CMRO REGIONAL SELF-ADVOCACY SPECIALIST (PART-TIME CONTRACTUAL) ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST II

The State of Maryland is seeking a CMRO Regional Self-Advocacy Specialist to provide support and training to individuals with developmental disabilities. The role involves assisting individuals with questions and concerns related to DDA funding and conducting outreach and education to community organizations.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Provide support and training to people with developmental disabilities to enable them to advocate for themselves
Assist with questions and concerns from individuals who receive DDA funding
Provide outreach and education to community organizations
Communicate through phone, email and in person

Qualification

Self-advocacy experienceOutreach experienceTraining developmentAdministrative experienceMentoring skillsIndependent work

Required

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work
Candidates must possess at least one year of experience as a self advocate for developmental or intellectual disabilities

Preferred

Experience in outreach to other Self-Advocates, Self Advocacy groups and other organizations
Experience developing and conducting training
Experience as a role model and mentor for peers in learning and using self-advocacy skills
Experience working independently

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
