Accounting Analyst

Inertia is a company focused on commercializing fusion energy and is seeking an Accounting Analyst to play a critical role in their finance operations. Responsibilities

Own AP processes, from purchase requests and vendor onboarding through invoice processing and payment execution
Partner with engineering, science, lab operations, and IT teams to support purchasing needs while maintaining financial controls
Manage vendor relationships, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely, accurate payments
Help establish and refine procurement policies, approval workflows, and documentation standards
Support month-end close processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries
Assist with expense reporting, credit card programs, and employee reimbursements
Support budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting activities
Contribute to compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Serve as a finance partner to technical teams, providing guidance on spend management and capital purchases
Support tracking and accounting for fixed assets, capital expenditures, and depreciation
Identify opportunities to improve and automate scalable finance and accounting processes
Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects as the company grows

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
2-5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience with demonstrated ownership of procurement and AP functions
Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial controls
Excellent communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively across teams
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, navigating ambiguity and implementing new processes to drive operating clarity
Passion for sustainability, innovation, and the scientific pursuit of clean energy

Preferred

Experience in hardware, lab, manufacturing, R&D, or capital-intensive environments strongly preferred
